Abstract

Various efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia, including the establishment of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2002 which uncovered many corruption cases, did not do much to improve Indonesia's ranking in Transparency International; number 100 out of 183 countries in the world in 2011. Another way to fight corruption is to implement formal anti-corruption education in schools, which has several advantages such as low costs and program continuity and systematization. Anti-corruption education is actually part of the Civics Education (PKn) subject curriculum. However, its implementation has not been as expected, especially in building students' anti-corruption attitudes and character. Lessons are limited to conveying information verbally, without giving students the opportunity to develop knowledge and logical reasoning about the immoral dimensions of corruption. This article explains that formal anti-corruption education is an important educational policy that cannot be postponed any longer. This is an investment to prevent corruption in the long term. The essential characteristic of anti-corruption education is the synergy between the use of information and knowledge and the ability to make moral judgments, in order to develop students' cognition, affection and connection in a complete and sustainable manner.
